My first published work was a poem dedicated to my sister who came late in the family when I had already established myself as the youngest. At the age of 8, I penned my first poem. It was published in the College of the Holy Spirit Newsletter by a stunned teacher. It was the first time I received fanmail for my work. Mothers of schoolmates I hardly talk to congratulated my mother. I guess it was then that I realized that despite my mother's dream of me becoming a singer or a flight attendant, what I wanted to be was a writer. Here are examples of my preferred assignments.
