ABOUT
Still Life photography is like creating a sculpture.
Instead of freezing an elusive moment, you convey a
story using inanimate objects and your point of view
to speak of ideas that otherwise go on unnoticed.
These are the words of a European sculptor I met in
St. Francis’ Park in Prague. This is why this branch
of photography has become my passion.
I find that objects can portray very human emotions.
They can convey abstract concepts if you paint them
with the right light, or frame them in certain ways.
Things can interact with each other to tell a story or
evoke memories.
I tend to lean towards richer hues and plain
backgrounds. I like to focus on the subject and allow
it to speak for itself. On the whole, I like to let
the subject guide the lighting. Objects have life,
especially in the minds of the people that value them.
It’s all about perspective.
